EVIDENCIAS ARQUEOLÓGICAS EN CERRO SURPO, CAYLLOMA, AREQUIPA

RESUMEN

Al sur de la Unidad Minera (U. M.) Tambomayo se localiza el cerro Surpo, espacio geo-gráfico donde fue posible registrar, mediante prospección arqueológica, la presencia de ochozonas con evidencia arqueológica. El área de estudio se ubica en la parte alta del valle delColca (área de influencia de la etnia Collagua), en el distrito de Tapay, provincia de Caylloma, departamento de Arequipa. Las zonas con evidencia arqueológica se caracterizan por presentar arquitectura, como para vientos, chullpasy arterupestre, algunos más complejo que otros, pero en líneas generales se pueden agruparlas representaciones pictóricas en escenas, seres antropomorfos, abstractas y religiosas. No es posible determinar a un periodo prehispánico las manifestaciones culturales registradas, debido a la escasa evidencia, pero la influencia española puede ser asociada con la época del virreinato. La excavación arqueológica es vital para lograr generar una visión más completa de las relaciones sociales y temporales presentes en la quebrada de Ucriamayo.

ABSTRACT

To the south of the Mining Unit (U. M.) Tambomayo is located the Surpo hill, a geogra-phical space where it was possible to register, through archaeological survey, the presence of eight areas with archaeological evidence. The study area is located in the upper part ofthe Colca Valley (area of influence of the Collagua ethnic group), in the district of Tapay,province of Caylloma, department of Arequipa. The areas with archaeological evidence are characterized by presenting architecture, such as windshields and chullpas, and rockart, some more complex than others, but in general terms, pictorial representations can begrouped into scenes, anthropomorphic, abstract and religious beings. It is not possible todetermine a pre-Hispanic period of the registered cultural manifestations, due to the scarceevidence, but the Spanish influence is clearly determined in the ravine and can be associatedwith the era of the viceroyalty. The archaeological excavation is vital to generate a morecomplete vision of the social and temporal relations present in the Ucriamayo ravine.
