With so many choices, choosing the appropriate skincare items may be a bit impossible. I am going to assist you to narrow down the list by using a simple filter of what may be critical in selecting skin care products. We can remove nearly all of the brands by making sure the items are created by a brand that is; independently-owned, are free of toxins, and are cruelty free. These are universal values that we all have in common and everyone supports from a brand.

Independently owned brands are brands that have not taken any investment capital in exchange for a percentage of ownership of the company. These brands are commonly refered to as Indie brands. There are several Indie brands across the nation that operate on a limited basis because of their small size. Plus there are a few Indie brands that are heading the trend and have grown into a nationwide presence. There are also a few Indie brands that are pursuing the prize of being globally traded. One such brand in the Indie vertical is Russell Organics. The brand is expanding across every beauty channel from mass beauty to luxury. Russell Organics is also internationally traded, with a publicly stated goal of being the first globally distributed Indie brand. If choosing an Indie brand be wary of not disclosed external investors. We have looked, and nearly every one of the bigger so-called Indie brands has received outside investors.

The following filter for choosing a good skin care product is it being toxin-free. What does this truly mean? There are thousands of synthetic ingredients, botanicals, waxes, and extracts used to create products. Several of these ingredients may be synthetic toxins that have been proven to be harmful to people and to the environment. Russell Organics is leading the Clean Beauty movement by not using harmful ingredients and by fully listing every ingredient in every product. Check on your own. Look at labels. Do you see ingredients listed as perfume? Did you know that fragrance can have over 900 chemicals and you wouldn not ever realize which ones? Talk about a dangerous scenario. Have you ever enter into a space and smell a fragrance and immediately have itcy eyes and start to sneeze? These are the harmful chemicals that may be also be lurking in your skin care products. A fantastic resource to research on ingredients is Environmental Working Group that has created a large database of ingredients and listed their toxicity.

The final filter is the company being cruelty-free. What does cruelty-free really mean? There is a lot of confusion regarding the phrase. Let us begin by clarifying that to be cruelty-free, the product must be a vegan brand. That requires no animal derived ingredients like dairy, honey, beeswax are never added in any product. That eliminates at least 95 percent of the brands in the market. The other issue for being cruelty-free is having never tested products on animals. All of the global mass beauty brands have conducted testing on animals. This lust for profits at the expense of harming animals is inexcusable and should not be supported by purchasing their products.

In closing, these simple primary filters will help you to narrow down the list of choices to those brands that are deserving of your support. From there it may be a simple process of choosing the proper skin care product for your complexion.
