The US Supreme Court is known to handle very significant or heavy cases as this is their very nature. In this regard, only 1 per cent of all the cases are escalated to the US Supreme Court every year. In most cases, it also takes time before they agree to accept a case to the point that these cases are already accepted and Van phong luat su gioi tai vinh phuc debated in the lower courts. The justice system in the US is quite different from Australia, therefore, law firms in Sydney also handle cases differently with its US counterparts.

The US Supreme Court has made a momentous decision by accepting to hear the dragging case of Microsoft and the issue of the US government by obtaining emails from an Irish server. This case is unique in its own way as it has some elements that may make any decision difficult.

The Importance of Digital Privacy in the Case
The Microsoft Irish email case is significant for digital privacy rights since the US Justice Department is going after Microsoft to gain access to emails that are stored on Dublins server. The US Supreme Court has accepted to hear this case out.

The US Justice Department is aiming to simply use a search warrant to gain access to emails in relation to a drug trafficking case. The issue lies in the fact that the server in which these emails are stored is not within the United States of America. Sydney Business Lawyers, who understands the concept of digital privacy, would disagree allowing the US government to gain access to data that is stored on a foreign soil. This is because the said action would have a significant (and possibly negative) impact on privacy rights all over the world.

Weak Digital Privacy Security
Researches and other simple online activities such as using Hotmail or Gmail create digital data belonging to a private citizen all over the world. These digital data may be stored anywhere around the world.

The US government is insisting that they should gain access to the data of the suspects involved in the crime. In normal circumstances, this should not be a problem, however, the data that they are requesting access for is in another country. Giving the US Government access to emails in an online email service in a foreign country shows how the protection of digital privacy is not as strong as the citizens hope it to be.
