STANDARD’s Environmental Policy
At STANDARD, we respect and care for the environment. We sell products that are energy efficient and encourage sustainability in our day-to-day activities. We are committed to minimizing our impact on the environment and improving our green performance with an environmental policy that prioritizes our efforts in 5 key areas.

1. Energy and Water Consumption
We lead by example. We have assessed the energy usage in our Montreal office and installed energy efficient lighting, including motion sensors in less frequented areas, thus reducing our energy consumption. Our goal is to reduce this indicator as well as our water consumption even further by 10% in 2019.

2. Greenhouse Gases
We work to significantly reduce our overall carbon footprint. We have avoided the indirect emissions of 48.5 tons of CO2 throughout 2017, thanks mainly to the recycling of plastic, cardboard and acrylic materials. Our aim, by the year 2019, is to begin measuring our Canadian carbon footprint.

3. Waste
We work diligently to prevent waste from going to the landfill by encouraging and training our employees to reduce, reuse and recycle. Our objective is to achieve a 45% diversion rate by 2020.

4. Customer Health & Safety
We are conscious of the impact that the disposal of our products has on the environment; this is why we specify disposal instructions on our packaging, as required. We also have a program in place with LightRecycle that follows regional disposal guidelines.

5. Sustainable Consumption
We promote the use of our products in environmentally friendly ways such as online catalogs, online ordering and the electronic download of key information such as specs and prices. Our ambition is to dramatically reduce our paper consumption by 30% by 2020.
