Silk, or silk containing blends are used in furniture upholstery and it looks both luxurious and aesthetic fabric when used in homes. Silk fabric is made of protein natural fibres and it is smooth and yet quite durable when used for upholstery. Silk is delicate fabric though and you need to provide proper clean and maintenance to prevent deterioration and damage of the furniture. This fabric shrink and fade easily when treated with too much water so you will need to use minimal amounts in order to avoid ruining your furniture's upholstery. How to Remove Stains From Silk Upholstery?


It is very important to keep in mind that when you clean silk upholstered furniture you should first test the cleaning detergent on a small hidden place of the fabric to make sure it does not fade or 플러피 spot. Avoid using cleaners as bleach or any bleach-based product and strong detergents on silk containing fabrics, because they could make the things worse.

To create a silk cleaning solution use 2 full tablespoons of non-alkaline mild detergent or even a baby shampoo and 1 gallon warm (not too warm) water. Mix them well together in a bucket. Use a dry clean soft piece of cloth or a clean sponge to dip into the solution. Wring it out to take most of the water out and gently dab the stained area with the solution. Start from the edges of the spot and slowly move to the centre of the affected area. If it's necessary rinse the cloth again and repeat the step until you clean the staining.

Fill in another container with clean cold water you will need approximately 1 gallon of water and add 2 tablespoons of white distilled vinegar. Use another clean rag and dip it into the water-vinegar cleaning solution. Wring the cloth out to remove as much of the moisture and blot the affected area to remove any soap residues. There is a possibility that this won't work from the first time. Be patient and repeat again until the staining is completely removed.

When you are done cleaning the stained upholstery fabric, you need to absorb as much of the wetness as possible. Use a dry clean towel and blot the area gently. Leave the area to air-dry and never leave your silk furniture upholstery to dry in direct sunlight because its colours will fade.
